Leaked: OnePlus Z to Run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G

News about the chipset powering the OnePlus Z, previously known as the OnePlus 8 Lite, has been leaked.

Max J, a reputable leaker, posted an image on Twitter that stated OnePlus Z is going to come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G inside. According to this, users can expect respectable mid-range performance along with next-gen 5G connectivity.

However, don’t take this as confirmation just yet.

OnePlus still hasn’t made any official announcements concerning the phone and previous rumors have suggested that a Mediatek chip will be powering the phone instead.

But a number of notable devices are anticipated to be running on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G, including the LG Velvet and the Pixel 5.

One of the overwhelming points of criticism for the OnePlus 8 when it launched on April 14 was its higher than expected price point of $699 (for a OnePlus flagship). And surprisingly a ‘lite‘ variant was a no-show.

Steve H.McFly, another noted leaker, tweeted that delays in the phone’s launch were primarily due to the coronavirus outbreak.

“According to my sources, that model was initially planned to be unveiled along with the OnePlus8 series during yesterday‘s event but has been postponed (at least to upcoming summer) due to Coronavirus situation.”

What we do know so far is that the OnePlus Z will hit the markets sometime in July and of course will be priced lower than USD $699. Plus, rumors hint a triple-lens rear camera, 90Hz refresh rate, along with 8 GB of RAM and a 4,000 mAh battery.
