Gamers, Epic is giving out GTA 5 for free

Epic Games has long been handing out titles for free through its online store, and the newest one to be up for grabs is the smash hit Grand Theft Auto V. Launched on consoles back in 2013 (the PC release followed in 2015), GTA V enjoys a Metacritic score of 96. This sandbox-style adventure game takes what’s easily one of the world’s most popular gaming franchises to the city of Los Santos and the surrounding area of Blaine County, putting you in control of an array of playable characters, who, as you’d expect, aren’t the most  law-abiding citizens around.

Epic’s announcement seems to have taken the gaming world by storm – so much so that the rush of visitors eager to get their hands on GTA V managed to crash Epic’s website. Which isn’t that much of a surprise, considering that back in 2018, a report by MarketWatch revealed that GTA V had, by then, racked up 90 million sales, with revenue of around $6 billion.

Now, with Epic’s store up and running again, you’ve got till May 21 to add this to your collection of GTA titles.  Signing in to the Epic  store (you’ll need to have enabled two-factor authentication to get any of the free games) will give you the chance to get the GTA V Premium Edition, which includes, in Epic’s words, “…the complete Grand Theft Auto V story experience, free access to the ever evolving Grand Theft Auto Online and all existing gameplay upgrades and content including The Doomsday Heist, Gunrunning, Smuggler’s Run, Bikers and much more. You’ll also get the Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack, the fastest way to jumpstart your criminal empire in Grand Theft Auto Online.”
