First Listen: Boot Screen for Xbox Series X

Microsoft revealed the Xbox Series X boot screen animation and sound in a teaser for May 7th’s Xbox Series X gameplay event. And it was aptly captioned, “boot up a new episode of Inside Xbox this Thursday.”

The animation highlighted how the latest Xbox would be more reserved and less aggressive while having a sound system similar to the older Windows boot screen jingles from the XP and Vista generation.

Although the company is reserving most of the gameplay footage from Microsoft’s 15 XBox Game Studios teams for this July, Microsoft will stagger game or developer partnership reveals on a monthly basis in a series it coins “Xbox 20/20.”

Microsoft already confirmed that it will launch Xbox Series X and Halo Infinite during the holiday season for this month’s reveal, while also announcing that PC gamers invested in XBox titles will also get same-day access to the next generation XBox game titles like Halo Infinite, Wasteland 3, Minecraft Dungeons, and others through the Xbox Game Pass for PC.

We’ll also soon find out the names of the game titles will end up participating in the Smart Delivery Program, which we already know includes Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, according to an earlier report by Surge.

“All the games you’ll see will be Xbox Series X Optimized, meaning they are built to take advantage of the powerful Xbox Series X features that make games look and feel incredible, including 4K resolution at up to 120 frames per second, DirectStorage, hardware-accelerated DirectX raytracing, super-fast load times and much more,” explained Jerry West, Head of Game Marketing at Microsoft.

The first XBox 20/20 update starts on May 7, 2020, and will premier on Inside Xbox.
